to the river deep

never coming to speak,

we find the words that linger and stick in the back of our throats

feelings felt and never expressed,  resigned in its motion

now sits left unsaid,  left in an everyday captivation

oh, take me down to the river deep

where all the sad songs live

and let me take all the brokenness

and let me make it  into something whole

the day’s sun may set for the night

letting  you go was unwillingly

but all  the hopes,  and all the dreams come back

all with a new days sunrise

and for the moment, finding  me disappearing  into what was

into the feelings and into the memories, i fade into

the happiness i hold  for you

the joy that forevermore secretly sits patiently –

and rushes me back to the river deep

oh, take me down to the river deep

where all the sad songs live

and let me take all the brokenness

and let me make it  into something whole

yet,  if  the thought of you passes by everyday

the one place where i can find some sort of comfort

and in that, the comfort that is  my breath

also becomes the sworded pain that wounds my heart –

never coming to speak,

we find the words that linger and stick in the back of our throats

feelings felt and never expressed and resigned in its motions

now sits left unsaid,  left in an everyday captivation –

and rushes me back down to the river deep
